Herbfarmacy; Top skincare brand utalizes organic herbs; Plus, my favorite face cream of all time!

Today I want to share the wonderful range of award-winning skincare products by Herbfarmacy, based in Eardisley. The man behind the brand is botanist Dr Paul Richards

who has been growing a wide range of organic herbs on the Herbfarmacy farm in Herefordshire for 30 years, including Calendula, Starweed, Ginkgo, Meadowsweet, and Cornflower. Knowledge, experience, care, and every spec of goodness from Paul’s organic hand-picked produce is squeezed into each product. Herbfarmacy is Soil Association Certified – organic ingredients are used whenever possible, and all other ingredients are stringently researched.
All Herbfarmacy products are completely cruelty-free – the team trial their own products and never use animal testing.

The vast Herbfarmacy range includes all manner of products suitable for all skin types, problems such as dryness and sensitivity, and even more serious skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Their natural formulas and organically-grown ingredients make the products gentle enough to use of troubled skin. You can even get your hands on products to ease mild health problems such as hay fever symptoms, dry lips, congestion, bruises, damaged skin, and achy muscles! The herbs and essential oils used in each product also give them a fresh, clean fragrance reminiscent of Mother Nature and The Great Outdoors – commercial products tend to get their scent from chemical concoctions, but the Herbfarmacy range is fragranced only by the aromas naturally occurring in the ingredients used. You’ll find no nasty additives here! Browse the website to discover collections for men, women and children, as well as gift sets and travel kits.

Have you stuck to your cleansing routines over the hectic Party Season and tiring New Year antics? Now is a great time to give your skincare regime an overhaul. Herbfarmacy’s Wash-Off Cleansing Mousse is perfect for your morning routine. Not only does it thoroughly clean the skin, but it also has a fresh uplifting fragrance and a fun mousse texture – great for a morning boost! Do you suffer from dry areas of skin? An exfoliator will help remove flakes and scrub away dirt and excess sebum. Try Herbfarmacy’s Exfoliating Cleanser to solve flaky patches and cleanse the skin simultaneously.

Rose Face Oil.

Herbfarmacy describe their Rose Face Oil as “skin food at it’s best”. This glorious oil has an incredibly relaxing natural scent and provides the facial area with deep hydration and intense nourishment. It contains a skin-loving mixture of plant oils and herbal infusions including Damask Rose, Evening Primrose, Apricot, Hempseed, Rosehip, Macadamia, Jojoba, and Vitamin E. This fragrant oil can be used in place of your usual moisturiser or as an enriching serum.
Just Face Cream.

It’s important to moisturise regularly, especially in winter when the bitter cold air encourages dryness. There are countless moisturisers on the market designed for all kinds of skin. Using products that aren’t suited to your skin type may cause unwanted side-effects. Luckily, Herbfarmacy sell a fantastic selection of moisturisers to keep your skin hydrated and gently help relieve any skin issues you may be experiencing. For a versatile all-rounder, try the award-winning Just Face Cream. Recommended for sensitive skin, this fragrance-free product suitable for using regularly day and night or whenever your skin needs a quick hit of hydration. I also found it worked very well as a primer alternative before applying makeup. Try mixing it in with liquid foundation to create your own tinted moisturiser. This product is 83% organic, and it’s herbal ingredients are Marshmallow, Ginkgo Biloba, Rosehip, and Calendula.

Replenish Face Cream.

If you want your moisturiser to give the appearance of more youthful skin, Replenish Face Cream is for you! Designed to improve and prevent signs of aging, it’s 84% organic formula contains a combination of anti-wrinkle herbal ingredients including Calendula, Marshmallow, Ginkgo, Rosehip, Evening Primrose, and Vitamin E, and is yet another award-winning Herbfarmacy product gave me great results! Recommended for dry, mature, and sensitive skin, the luxuriously thick and creamy formula was absorbed quickly and gave tighter skin with a desirable matte finish.

Divine Light Face Cream.
Source: Herbfarmacy.co.uk
My favourite Herbfarmacy product is the Divine Light Face Cream (in fact, it’s possibly the best face cream I’ve ever used!). Designed for oily, combination, or younger skin, it’s creamy formula contains softening Marshmallow and conditioning Calendula, as well as Echinacea which has a mildly astringent quality. Astringents help to balance the skin, ridding it of unwanted oily shine caused by excess sebum production (sebum is a substance naturally secreted by the skin to keep it hydrated, but it causes oiliness and shine when it’s overproduced). This product worked absolute wonders for my combination skin! It gave my skin balance and glow from the first use, and I would defiantly buy this again. I highly recommended this to anyone whose skin is on the oily side!
Starweed face Cream.
Source: Herbfarmacy.co.uk

The last Herbfarmacy face cream I want to share with you is the Starweed Face Cream. It has an uplifting fresh fragrance that reminds me of freshly-cut grass – a great little pick-me-up in your morning skincare routine! It’s wonder-ingredient is Starweed (also known as Chickweed). This versatile plant sprouts up all over the Herbfarmacy fields. Not only is it edible, but it also has skin-softening properties. In this mild face cream it gently soothes the skin making it perfect for use on sensitive skin. It’s even suitable for sufferers of skin conditions like Eczema. It’s effective, non-heavy formula also works well on combination skin types, and it’s proved a winner with men due to it’s clean, non-flowery aroma!

"For Him" gift set.

Just Eyes.
Source: Herbfarmacy.co.uk
Yet another award-winner, Herbfarmacy Just Eyes is a luscious cream formulated specifically for the delicate eye area. The cooling formula leaves the eyes feeling refreshed, so it’s excellent for dabbing on the area when you’re feeling tired and rundown. Cooling products also help to diminish the appearance of dreaded “dark circles”!
Citrus Hand Cream.
Source: Herbfarmacy.co.uk

It’s important to keep your hands hydrated, too. Leaving dry patches untreated can lead to unsightly flaky redness and uncomfortable cracking. Tackle dehydrated hands with Herbfarmacy Working Hands Cream. This protective product is 83% organic and contains Calendula, Marshmallow, and Comfrey giving a pleasant, warming, herby aroma. If you prefer something with a more vibrant, fruity fragrance, try the Citrus Hand Cream instead. It contains a blend of essential oils from Grapefruit, Mandarin, Orange and Bergamot, and smells like a squeeze of summer in your hands!

Nail & Cuticle Oil.
Source: Herbfarmacy.co.uk
If you need something that offers more intense treatment than a moisturising cream, Herbfarmacy also produce a collection of skin balms to treat a range of skin problems and provide instant nourishment. Balms have a concentrated formula packed with goodness – a little goes a long way, so apply sparingly to allow it to be absorbed. The award-winning Skin Rescue Balm is perfect for providing hydration to sorry skin on the face and body. Balms harden up when they’re cold, so soften in your palms if necessary before applying to dry patches, cracked areas, and even on eczema. I also like to massage it into my nails and cuticles to keep them in tip-top condition (Herbfarmacy sell an award-winning Nail & Cuticle Oil to condition the nails, too).  This excellent all-rounder contains a healing herbal blend of Marshmallow, Calendula, Chickweed, and Comfrey, and it’s 100% organic.

Psoriasis and Eczema can cause major discomfort for sufferers, and it can be a real struggle to find a suitable product to calm flare-ups. However, Herbfarmacy have formulated their Oregon Grape Balm containing extracts of Calendula, Chickweed, and Roman Chamomile essential oil to sooth areas affected by irritating skin conditions. It’s suitable for anyone over the age of 6 weeks, so it’s great to have on standby in case anyone in the family experiences a flare-up or extreme dryness.

Hay Fever Pack

For the face, Herbfarmacy have infused their Mallow Beauty Balm with Mullein; an oil with a natural anti-wrinkle effect. This multi award-winner also delivers deep moisturise instantly and gives the skin a healthy, youthful glow. Massage a touch into fine lines, or scrap your moisturiser and use in it’s place.

Meadowsweet Muscle Balm.

You’ll also find a selection of balms to help with a range of minor health problems including Comfrey Balm for soothing bruised and damaged skin, Chickweed Balm for calming itchy areas, Baby's Balm for treating nappy rash, the Hay Fever Pack to sooth irritation and trap pollen, Easy Breath Balm to clear the airways, and the divine Meadowsweet Muscle Balm for relieving achy joints and muscles and gives off a warm, gingery aroma (my favorite!).
Therapeutic Massage Oil.

A great way to relieve a stressed body and mind is by indulging in a relaxing massage. Don’t fancy the beauticians appointment? There are countless massage and aromatherapy products on the marked to help you achieve a spa-like experience in the comfort of your own home. Herbfarmacy’s 99% organic Therapeutic Massage Oil contains a blend of nourishing oils to sooth the skin and promote circulation. It’s scented with the fresh, warming fragrance of Frankincense, spicy Black Pepper, and calming Ylang Ylang.

I could continue to discuss the wonderful produce of the Herbfarmacy team and their rich, organic fields of skin-loving herbs. BEAUTY TIPS; My top beauty tips for January.

The hectic party season can be a stressful time, often knocking our usual routines
out of sync. The New Year offers a great time to unwind, get back on track, and give your beauty regime an overhaul, and beat those “January Blues”!
Click on the links to view the products mentioned, and look out for links to my features and reviews!

New year, new you, new ‘do!: Regardless of whether you’re the resolution type, the New Year is a great excuse to don a new hair ‘do. Experiments with different styles and products, or go all out and try a brand new colour and cut. It’s amazing how a new look can boost your confidence and give you a new lease of life. Your stylist will be happy to discuss services that suit your budget, needs, and schedule. Try turning to haircut magazines and the internet for inspiration.

January blues: Zesty uplifting fragrances are a great way to boost your mood while you wash. Clean, citrus scents lift your spirits and help to make you feel more awake and refresh your senses, so it’s excellent to incorporate something with a zingy aroma into your morning cleansing routine, be it in your haircare products, your skincare regime, or your “wake-up shower”. One of my personal favourites is Happy Hippy Shower Gel from LUSH (click here to read my LUSH feature) – this multi-tasker with energizing grapefruit scent that can be used to wash the face, body and hair, plus it’s natural and handmade!

Detoxify, don’t diet: If you want to shift some pounds, then by all means alter your lifestyle, but dieting is not the speediest option to solve suffering skin. Detoxifying beauty treatments can be an effective quick-fix for stressed skin. They work by drawing out toxins from and providing intense nourishment. Not only are treatments like these fantastically good for our skin, but they also give us a perfect opportunity to unwind. Don’t worry if Christmas has left you strapped for cash – there are options available for all budgets, from facemasks available at supermarkets and drugstores for under a pound, to much more expensive treatments available at salons and spas. Chat to your beautician for advice on what products and treatments would suit your skin in particular.

Revitalise rundown skin: The stresses of Christmas and New Year can leave us feeling tired and rundown. Whether it’s overindulging on calorific food and drink, too many late nights, panicking about Christmas get-togethers, or unwelcome winter coughs and colds, our mind and body always seem to suffer as a result of the Party Season panic. Remember, although it’s a new year it’s not a new season, and with the harsh winter weather worsening, you’ll need to keep your skin hydrated, nourished and balanced. Exfoliators are brilliant for making the skin look instantly healthier – their scrubby texture removes dead cells and dry patches and evens the skin tone, and the massaging motion used to apply it increases blood flow to the skin making it look healthier and giving a natural, youthful glow (this motion also helps to diminish the appearance of cellulite – a tip to remember next time you moisturise your thighs!). For regular use I choose Outback OrganicsFace & Body Scrub for it’s creamy consistency and gentle abrasive texture. For a touch of luxury, try adding a facial serum to your skincare regime. I adore Doozle Nourishing FacialSerum – handmade in Wiltshire, this long-lasting formula is packed with all-natural skin-loving ingredients and gives a youthful dewy glow without leaving any greasy residue. An energising skin treatment is also a great way to instantly revitalise rundown skin. Try using a face mask containing cooling ingredients like cucumber or tea tree to soothe and de-stress the skin. Products scented with warming spices help to relax the muscles, and uplifting citrusy fragrances are ideal for energising the mind and lifting the spirits (think back to my tip about zesty mood-boosting citrus scents). If you opt for a salon treatment, let your beautician know if you’d like your skin to feel rejuvenated and refreshed – they’ll be more than happy to tailor your chosen treatment to your needs.

Ditch dreaded dark circles: Almost all of us have blue-ish droopy patches under the eyes, commonly called “dark circles”, which are exaggerated when the skin is stressed and tired. You can disguise them with concealer, and regularly using a roll-on eye treatment designed to target and treat tenacious dark circles can help to minimise their appearance. They’re quick and easy to use, and many contain extras such as light-reflecting concealer, gentle moisturisers, and anti-aging ingredients. One of my favourites is Angel Eyes, a relatively new product from Angela Langford. It’s an all-natural roll-on eye oil that battles dark circles and dryness, and it contains cooling cucumber to refresh the delicate eye area. A little goes an astonishingly long way - I’ve been using it twice daily for approximately 3 months, and there’s still over half left! For a cheap and quick DIY option, pop a slice of cucumber or a cold used teabag over each eye next time you relax with a facemask for 10 minutes or so – it really does help to reduce dark circles and puffiness! You can even find some fun easy recipes for making your own face masks and body scrubs at home on the internet using basic supermarket ingredients.

The Weekender by ZPM
Give it away: Have you acquired a number or beauty treats over Christmas? Give away or discard unwanted and unsuitable ones, and donate unopened products to charity shops – if you’re never going to use them they’ll only be taking up valuable space. Don’t use a product if it’s unsuited to your skin type as it’s likely to react badly – the last thing you need is to start your new year with a blemish break-out, unsightly redness, or dreaded dry patches! Many of us will have been given make up sets and “bath and body” sets for Christmas. If you know you’ll never use they, see if a friend wants it or give it to your local charity shop. It will put a smile on someone’s face, and you’ll feel all the better for spreading a little joy in the tired aftermath of the Party Season!

The Weekender by ZPM
Space-savers: Many of us choose the new year to try a different make up look with new products, so free up some space first if you can. Now is a great time to give your make up bag and bath and body products an overhaul. Check all your liquid make up (mascara, foundation, gloss, liquid liner, etc) and discard any that have dried up or expired. Set aside any products that you never use to offer to friends and family (I don’t advise donating or selling used beauty products as some people dislike using them if they don’t know the previous owner). Purchase a space-saving make up bag or vanity case to keep all your beauty gear up together. I love The Weekender by ZPM. It’s an amazing storage product designed to keep your things organised, and it’s wipe-clean surface makes it perfect for beauty products! You wouldn’t believe how much you can fit in The Weekender – as the name suggests, it has space for all your little products that you might take on a weekend break and keeps them safe and organised, and has a handy extra-strong hook to hang it up wherever you please. Practical and stylish, it’s available in a huge range of gorgeous designs to suit all ages, sexes and tastes, and they’re based locally in Shaftesbury!

Lighten up!: Give your skin a luminous healthy glow by incorporating highlighter into your make up routine. This versatile wonder-product is available in various formats including loose powder, pressed powder compacts, pearls, sticks, liquids, and mousses. For a radiant, subtly glowing base, mix a generous amount of liquid highlighter (my favourite is Barbara Daly Make-Up - Soft Focus) with your usual liquid foundation or BB cream on the back of your hand before applying - if your skin feels dry, you mix in a touch of moisturiser for all-day hydration, too. For a youthful shimmery look, finish your make up with a dusting of highlighting powder - use alone as for the full-effect, or mix with a translucent powder for a more understated finish, or mix with a touch of bronzer for a sultry sun-kissed glow (I adore ELF Cosmetics bronzer in

“Glow”). Of course, you can also use the classic combination of highlighter and bronzer to contour the face. Use bronzer where shadows would naturally form (under the cheekbones, around the hairline, down the sides of the nose, and under the chin), and highlight where light would naturally hit your face (down the nose, above the cheekbones, on the chin, and on the cupids bow). Luminous blush adds instant healthy colour, and I choose Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch (click here to read my review and to see photos) for a long-lasting flush of glowing colour with a light-as-a-feather mousse format (my favourite shade is “002 Radiant Rose”). For eye-catching peepers, finish your eye make up by highlighting the inner corners of the eyes and under the brows with highlighter or a light, neutral shadow – this gives the eyes an instant “lift” and makes them appear lighter, brighter, and more youthful, and also helps to shape the brows. Shades I like to use for this job are Givenchy ShadowShow in “Star Caresse”, Clinique Soft-Pressed Eye Shadow in “Starstruck”, and Younique Moodstruck Minerals Pigment Shimmer in “Sexy" (click here to read my review). To make the eyes look larger still, line the water line with a white pencil liner. Easy illuminated eyes in an instant!
