It’s great to think natural when it comes to skincare. Many commercial products contain a vast array of potentially harmful chemicals that could actually damage the skin rather than improve it. You need to know your ingredients. Most of us slap this stuff on our skin without even glancing at the seemingly infinite list of ingredients. And do we even know what half of these scientific-sounding substances do? Personally, I can’t even pronounce most of them, and just trying to read the endless list of components these drugstore formulas contain brings on a headache. So, it seems a safe and easy way to avoid the risky side-effects of these chemical compounds is to go natural – it seems that “less is more” when it comes to organic skincare.

Jemma Cannon is the expert behind Dorset-based skincare company, Enchanted Plants. As the name suggests, she makes the most out of all the beneficial delights that the natural world has to offer. Why not visit her Shaftesbury shop? You’ll discover a vast selection of tempting treats to pamper you all over, from scented soaps to luxurious lotions. You’ll find no frightening fusions of baffling scientific synthetics here! You can also shop for their goodies on the Enchanted Plants website. So forget those commercial chemical-packed catastrophes - organic and natural is the way to go!
I’m particularly fond of the Enchanted Plants organic handmade soap bars. I love their rustic appearance – no two bars are the same, and they have a certain charm about them which you just don’t get with a mass-produced product. I use the English Chamomile, Lavender, Dorset Honey and Oat Organic Soap. It’s fantastically fragrant. The first scent I detected was the honey – it’s unmistakable aroma smells good enough to eat! If you find your skin plays up to fragranced products then gives this one a whirl. The gentle ingredients make this soap suitable for skin suffering from irritation and sensitivity (it’s even kind enough for babies’ skin!).

For all-over cleansing, the Rose Geranium and Rosemary Organic Liquid Soap is a supreme choice. It’s fit for the hands and body, so you can pop it by the basin for an everyday hand wash and use it as a shower gel, too. It’s available in two generous sizes (and in a gift set) and a little goes a long way, so it’s easy on the bank account, too! Just a small amount from the handy pump-bottle works up a rich cleansing lather. Enchanted Plants believe in using the finest quality ingredients, and this versatile soap is no exception. And, of course, it’s beautifully fragrant. It’s calming aroma transforms everyday cleansing into a relaxing treat for the senses.
The Rose Geranium and Rosemary Hand and Body Lotion is the perfect product to use following the matching liquid soap. Just a touch of the magnificently moisturising formula is quickly absorbed into the skin leaving it feeling silky smooth and baby-soft. Aloe, Shea Butter and Flax Seed are the elements that work effectively to sooth and soften the skin whilst providing essential nutrients and hydration, and Rose Geranium and Rosemary oils give it’s fresh and pure herbal fragrance.
The Rose Geranium and Rosemary Organic Liquid Soap and Hand and Body Lotion can be purchased as a prettily packaged set, the perfect gift for any organic-enthusiast or beauty-addict.
