☀No7 Perfectly Bronzed Lotion | L'Oréal Sublime Bronze Mist - 2x Self-Tanning reviews + photos☀

With such great tanning products available today you no longer need to travel abroad or hit the sunbeds to get a golden glow. Not that either of those options ever work for me - I have red hair and very pale skin, and I pretty much never tan naturally. I love my porcelain skin in the winter, but in the summer I like to look tanned. I've used two self-tanning products this year and I'd like to share the results with you.

No7 Perfectly Bronzed Quick Dry Tinted Lotion:
These popular types of build-up tanning lotion keep your skin hydrated as well as gradually giving you a healthy glow. I've tried various brands over the years and the results have always been different; for example, Johnson's Holiday Skin just didn't work for me (although everyone else seems to love it), but Dove Summer Glow was a triumph!

This year I opted for No7 as there products never let me down. I went for No7 Perfectly Bronzed Quick Dry Tinted Lotion in "light/medium" from the Perfectly Bronzed range. Before the first application I always exfoliate really well with a pair of exfoliating gloves and a sugar scrub. Always use a self-tan mit to apply any tanning product that needs rubbing in i.e. a lotion or a mousse - I got mine from Soltan at Boots.
Overall am pleased with the results I got from this product. The first thing I noticed is how deeply nourishing this moisturising lotion is - my skin felt ultra-hydrated and silky smooth. The lotion has a slight tint which gives you skin an "instant hit" of colour while your tan develops. I always find these products a pain as you can't dress until the skin is touch-dry, and this product is no exception - No7 advise that you wait at least 10 minutes before dressing as it can stain clothing. The tan takes about 2 hours to develop. I was impressed to find that just one-two applications was enough to get the desired shade - some products build-up very slowly and require a lot of applications, luckily this isn't one of them! It quickly gave my skin a lovely, golden, streak-free tan. Another huge pro-point is that it's suitable for facial use, whereas many tanning products are not - make sure you exfoliate your face before applying, too! When I re-exfoliated to apply another layer of product, the tan did go very uneven, but fortunately the patchiness wasn't visible once the next layer of tan had developed. The tan fades naturally, but I found deep exfoliation removed the majority of it. Does not contain UV protection.

L'Oréal Sublime Bronze Express Pro Spray:
"Dry Spray" and "Airbrush" self-tanning products have also proved popular. Last summer I had great success with Granier Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer Natural Dry Body Mist (what a stupidly long name), so I wanted to try a similar product this year.

I opted for L'Oréal Sublime Bronze Express Pro Spray for fair skin, as I'd seen internet videos of how quick and easy it was to apply. Again, I exfoliated well with my exfoliating gloves and sugar scrub before the first application. There's no need for a self-tan mit for this product as you don't rub it in. It's meant to have a citrus fragrance, but I didn't notice it at all. L'Oréal say that it dries instantly which was another pro-point that made my buy it, but this proved to be problematic. In order for this I had to hold the 40cm away from my skin, as directed on the back of the aerosol - it says "if your skin feels wet you are holding the spray too close." However, using the spray from this distance allowed such a fine amount of product onto the skin that after the first application I noticed next to no difference at all, except for on my forearms, which looked faintly tanned. It also takes 3 hours to develop, and the directions say to wait until the next day before reapplying. After 3-4 applications I finally achieved a gorgeous, perfectly even, healthy-looking glow not a streak in sight! When I exfoliated to re-apply, the tan did not go at all patchy - it stays even which allows for a more natural-looking tan. All-in-all, I am very pleased with the golden-glow I achieved from this product, but I would be much more impressed if it didn't take so many applications to get the desired result! This product is not for facial use, however L'Oréal Sublime Bronze Airbrush-Effect Self-Tanning Dry Mist for Face is specifically designed for the job. When use is discontinued it will fade gradually and naturally. Does not contain UV protection.
