NEW Avon Always On Point Eyeliner; Black; Review + photos! Unique "self-sharpening" liner is ready when you are...

"Creamy, smooth liner stays colour-true. With a sharpener in the patent-pending cap, so the tip is always sharp and ready for precise lines." - Avon (avonshop.co.uk)

Today I'm reviewing a fairly new product from Avon. It's an eyeliner called Always On Point, and is named so because it has a sharpener built into the lid to keep it sharp.

I'll be honest (as always), when I first saw this product advertised I thought it was quite pointless. It's very similar to Avon's Glimmerstick eyeliner, a hugely popular product that sells like hotcakes and comes in an impressive range of shades (I own about 10 products from the Glimmersticks range, and I'm not alone in being a massive fan). So, due to the Glimmerstick eyeliner being so successful, I initially thought this product was unnecessary. However, now that I've had the opportunity to give it a whirl, I can see it's benefits and it's differences from other Avon products, which I will explain to you now! :)

This new product is currently available in four shades; "Black", "Midnight Navy", "Lavender Grey", and "Teal". I own it in "Black", so that's the colour I'll be testing today. The rich formula is highly-pigmented with bold, saturated colour. A little goes a long way!

Let's talk about the product design. The idea of this product is that it never goes blunt due to it's "self-sharpening" ability. It has a screw-top lid with a built-in sharpener. When you think the liner is looking like it could do with being sharpened you simply place the lid on and turn it clockwise until you hear a "click" sound - voilà! See the image on the left for "instructions in photos".The fact that it doesn't require a sharpener makes it ideal for my handbag - this is where I believe us ladies should try to keep beauty products and tools to a minimum, so the sleek, twist-up, all-in-one design that doesn't require tools or brushes is ideal for on-the-go.

Image - right: This "self-sharpening" liner makes applying your desired style easier. I always opt for the winged look.

Of course, a sharp eyeliner is essential for precise application. This product's "Always On Point" tip makes applying your desired eyeliner style quicker and easier. When I wear eyeliner I always opt for the winged look (see photo - right). It can also be blended and smudged easily to create different effects without looking messy, although I advise using a smudging tool to do this as the water-resistant formula is difficult to get off your fingers! Avon sell a dual-ended eyeshadow brush and smudger which I own and use successfully, and I also have a good quality smudger from Bobbi Brown. Sadly, I don't have any photos of this product when it's been smudged and blended, but I'll take some snaps and add them to this blog when I get a chance!

The soft, creamy consistency doesn't pull or drag the delicate skin around the eye area. The colour glides on easily and seems to "melt" onto the skin - there's no need for much more than the lightest pressure! It sits comfortably on the skin all day, and it doesn't feel thick or heavy. I also found that it didn't upset my easily-irritated waterlines.

My favorite thing thing about this product has got to be it's incredible staying-power. I applied my make up first thing in the morning and removed it about 12 hours later, and the colour stayed true and showed no signs of wear all day! The gorgeous heavily-pigmented black hue was just as strong at the end of the day as when it was freshly applied - impressive! There wasn't a transfer line or crease mark in sight. I felt confident that my liner was staying-put without showing signs of wear or losing it's boldness, which meant I didn't need to check my compact mirror every five minutes! It also applies really well to the waterline, a hurdle which many liners fall at, however it doesn't last as long as it does on the skin, so a few top-ups throughout the day may be required. All this staying-power, yet it's still easy to remove with make up remover or facial cleansing wipes (you'll find it difficult to remove with water alone as the waxy formula is water resistant!). I'm sure this product will be a make up miracle for a lot of you busy girls who are always on the go!

I'm glad that I had the opportunity to try this product and share my thoughts and results with you, otherwise I'd probably have dismissed it and stuck to the Glimmerstick range! It's a great all-rounder, and the "Always On Point" sharpener-lid is a brilliant bonus, but it's that impressive staying-power that wowed me the most. With Christmas just around the corner, a product with wear this good would be ideal for festive gatherings that continue all day and all night, and it would be great to slip in your clutch! Or what about buying it as a little stocking filler? Thanks, Avon!

☆NEW Avon LUXE COUTURE Créme Lipstick; 3 shades; review + photos☆

Source: avonshop.co.uk/
I'm simultaneously writing this review and on hold to a mobile network company. I was going to name and shame them, but the fact that I'm calling to tell them I want to leave their network should be enough - at least I'll never have to phone them again!
[2 minutes later...] Finally! I'm off hold and the the call is done. Now I can focus on my writing.

Today's review is about a product from Avon's new make up range, the LUXE collection. Their "exclusive premium" range is out in time for Christmas, and it's a perfect way to treat yourself and your loved ones without breaking the bank!

The new range includes a ladies perfume, a jewelry roll, 10 shades of lipstick, 6 eyeshadow palettes, 2 liquid eyeliner shades, 2 mascara shades, 8 shades of lip gloss, a shimmer powder compact, and 5 shades of liquid foundation.

Today I will be reviewing Avon Luxe Couture Créme Lipstick in three shades; High Style Coral, Designer Red, and Stiletto Red.

"Silk-infused formula with pearlescent colour."
- Avon.

The first thing I noticed about these lipsticks is the glamorous golden packaging. It's gorgeous! All of the Luxe range products are presented in eye-catching, golden chrome-effect packaging. It's really stylish and makes the products appear much more high-end and expensive than they really are. They really do look like designer products! They look like accessories as opposed to just make up. It's very sleek and sophisticated (see image - top right).

Now, let's discuss the lipsticks themselves. The formula is divine! Avon say these lipsticks make the lips feel more voluptuous and as soft as silk, and they certainly live up to the claim! My lips felt deeply moisturised and nourished, both during and after wear. Some moisturising lipsticks don't have very good wear, they often don't stay in place very long and require re-applying regularly, however that is not the case with these lipsticks. I had to top up the colour every few hours and after eating, but otherwise the soft hue lasted for hours! Very impressive. So far, so good!

I chose these three shades because I thought "High Style Coral" looked irresistible in the brochure, and I picked the two red shades because I'm a sucker for red lips!
All the shades have a slightly sheer finish, but the colour can be layered to make the hue more intense.

☆High Style Coral: (images - right and end of blog) As I said previously, I had high expectations after spotting this shade in the brochure photos. Many times I've found that shades don't look as good in reality as they do in a brands' advertising images, and sometimes they look like a different shade altogether, however this shade didn't disappoint. It's a soft, sun-kissed, caramel shade that gives the lips a flattering pearly sheen.

☆Designer Red: (Image - right) This bright, orange-toned red is a classic shade for the lips. It looks best paired with simple eye make up and pale, flawless skin. With the winter weather and the Christmas party season approaching, this shade is an ideal buy!

"Stiletto Red."

☆Stiletto Red: (Image - below-right) This red is a more delicate than "Designer Red", but it's not at all subtle! For me, this shade worked perfectly with medium-dark neutral eye shadow and a rosey blusher. Again, this shade is great for Autumn/Winter make up.

Now, let's talk dollar. This range is a little more expensive than most Avon cosmetics. Everything released from the range so far will cost you between £6 and £16 at the normal prices, and these lipsticks will set you back £9.50 each. If you snap them up for the introductory prices they'll be a little cheaper, though.

So, with Christmas just around the corner, why not treat yourself or your loved ones to a little something special from Avon's new luxurious range?

Avon SuperExtend & SuperExtend Extreme Mascaras; review + photos

© Tuesday T. Bryan Photography
DO NOT USE IMAGES WITHOUT PERMISSION. Copyrighted material
Today I'm reviewing 2 of my all-time favorite mascaras; Avon SuperExtend Mascara and Avon SuperExtend Extreme Mascara, both in "Black". As always, I've included photos of the results so you can see it for yourself, and I've added a photo of the 2 brushes so you can see the difference between the original product and the jazzed-up "Extreme" version (click photos to enlarge).
Image - right: Avon SuperExtend Mascara and Avon SuperExtend Extreme Mascara are 2 of my favorite lash-lengthening products.

First of all, let me tell you why I opt for mascaras with a lash-lengthening formula. I'm pleased with my lashes - they're thick, healthy and dense - but their short/medium length lets them down a little. I love the way that long, lifted lashes make the eyes appear more open. So, I always curl my lashes with eyelash curlers for lift, and I add a lengthening mascara for length. Sometimes I apply a volumising mascara as a "base coat" for extra drama, but I haven't done that in the photos for this review, as I just want to show the results of the Avon SuperExtend mascaras. I used to wear false lashes pretty much all the time, but I got fed up of the nightmare of removing the eyelash glue every night!

When Avon sent me these mascaras I couldn't wait to try them out. They're now among my "everyday mascaras" - I'm actually almost out of SuperExtend Extreme, you might be able to see it's looking a little dry from the mascara wand photos (see end of blog)!

So, without further ado, let's move on to the results. :)

Avon SuperExtend Mascara - Black: This is the original SuperExtend Mascara. It's only available in "Black" - if you want more shades, opt for SuperExtend Extreme Mascara (below), which comes in "Brown/Black" and "Navy", too. As you can see from the photos, one coat adds some length, but for top results it's best to apply two coats (see photos - below). The formula is packed with lash-lengthening fibers that interlock with every sweep, making lashes appear up to 55%* longer. The slim wand has is made up of plastic bristles that taper to a point - this allows helps to coat the lashes with the right amount of product, and makes it easier to apply to the corner and bottom lashes (see "mascara wand" photo - below). It makes the lashes appear longer, gives a touch more volume, and has a clump-free result.

Avon SuperExtend Extreme Mascara - Black: This is a newer, updated version of the original SuperExtend Mascara. It's available in three shades ("Black", "Brown/Black", and "Navy"), and, as usual, I have it in "Black"! I'm very impressed with the result that just one coat gives, but I like to wear two coats for even more length and volume. It's long-wearing and flake-proof, so there's no need to worry about topping it up over the day. The thick "lash-lifting brush" is made up of dense plastic bristles that coat each lash with the perfect amount of product, and gives a separated and clump-free finish (see "mascara wand" photo - below). It makes lashes appear lengthened and voluminous, so it's a great all-rounder!

This image shows the the differences between the packaging, and, more importantly, the mascara wands.

So, if you're looking for a product to add dramatic length to your lashes, these mascaras are definitely worth a try! They're both Avon products that I could not live without. I'm one of the huge number of people who have given these mascaras great ratings, and I'm sure you will be, too!

☆It's my birthday!☆ NEW Avon Colour Trend; Glitter Glam Shimmery Pressed Powder; Review + Photos

First of all, it's my birthday today! So, Happy Birthday to me, and thanks you to everyone who has sent me birthday messages and presents. :)
It's 01:58am here in England. I thought I'd get my work done now so I can enjoy my day properly tomorrow. :)

Today I'm reviewing another new product from Avon that hasn't yet been released in the UK, so you can get all the information you need before you decide to make the purchase! The product is Avon Colour Trend Glitter Glam Shimmery Pressed Powder.

Please note; the photos really don't do this product justice. I always find it hard to show highlighting products without over-loading the face with make up (which looks and feels awful) or using a camera flash (which doesn't give an image of what the product looks like in normal lighting).

It's a pressed powder with a subtle shimmery finish that can be used to highlight or to give an all-over glow to the face and body. It's a perfect beauty bargain for the party season; Christmas is coming up fast! It comes in a colourful compact complete with an application sponge, although I found application much easier and more effective with a powder brush.

Let's talk about the product in more detail. The pressed powder itself is almost translucent, it has just a slight tinge of gold to it which gives the skin a beautiful healthy glow, so it would be great for use as a subtle bronzer, too. The powder is infused with fine, light-reflecting, shimmering gold particles. When applied to the skin it gives a healthy, luminous, pearly glow. The result suits all ages and skin tones, and it gives just the right amount of subtle shimmer to add extra glamour to any outfit. It really is a great all-rounder!

The formula of this product is fabulous. It makes the skin feel feather soft, and the powder eliminates any

shine
. A little goes a long way and the product is build-able, so start off by applying a little and build it up to achieve the desired effect.

Image - right: I tried to use a close-up photo to show the effect that a touch of this product can achieve, but it really doesn't do it justice! Scroll to the end of this review to see a photo of my whole look finished with the Shimmery Pressed Powder.

There are a few ways you can use this product. If you want to use it as a highlighter, apply it to the forehead / cheeks / nose / chin etc (anywhere the sun would naturally hit your face) - I found this easiest with a small blusher brush for precise application. Or, for a more dramatic yet not over-the-top effect, you could apply it all over the face. I love the glowing result this gives the skin; it's a great way to finish your make up. You can use it on the body, too, for some subtle party glamour. I think it looks best applied to the top of the shoulders, the collar bones, and just a little on your breasts - it's a great way to highlight your assets! ;)

Personally, I think there's nothing worse than people over-loading on super-glittery make up and body glitter, a look that seems to be popular for the Christmas Party Season. Please, ladies, don't make yourselves look like disco balls and leave the tinsel for the trees! A product like this gives a much more sophisticated result - you can don the shimmer for the party season and still look fabulous! Plus, this stuff is much more versatile, so you don't need to reserve it just for nights out and Christmas. It's a beauty bargain that you can't afford to miss!

Image - below: My radiant glow is the result of Avon Colour Trend Shimmery Pressed Powder. Shame I couldn't get the Party Season sparkles to show up in the photo! I'm wearing different eye make up to what I'd usually wear, certainly not a look I'll be rocking for my birthday! Didn't feel comfortable in it at all, so removed it as soon as I'd finished the photos for this review.

NEW NAIL ART PRODUCT; Avon Colour Trend Glitter Glam Nail Glitter Pots; review + photos

I'm really excited about sharing my thoughts about this product with you. It's a new nail art product from Avon that isn't yet on sale in the UK, so you can get the lowdown up-front right here!

Glitter Glam Nail Glitter Pots are from the Avon Colour Trend range. Everything from Colour Trend is dirt cheap, so you can look fabulous without breaking the bank! Who doesn't love a beauty bargain!?

These wicked little pots contain light-reflective, ultra-fine, gorgeous nail glitter. It's currently available in 3 shades, "Silver", "Hello Halo", and "Black Bling", and I couldn't resist testing them all. I'm hoping that Avon come up with more shades - an eye-catching gold would look great, and maybe an intense red for a glitzy Autumn manicure.

As always, I've added my helpful high-res photos to this review, so you can see the results for yourself.

Image - right: Instruction included with each Nail Glitter Pot.

It's dead simple to use, but instructions are included anyway (see image - right). Paint your nails with a clear base coat, followed by a coloured polish if desired. While your nails are still wet, apply a coat of glitter to the nail using a brush of some kind (used an old eyeshadow brush), then lightly blow away any excess. For even more eye-catching results, apply one coat of clear polish and re-apply the glitter. Finish your nails by sealing in the glitter with 2 coats of top coat - I think a high-gloss one looks best.

For a more subtle look, use one or two coats of glitter over clear polish. To add more depth to your manicure, apply one coat of glitter over a coordinating shade of nail polish. I applied the glitter over 3 of my favorite Avon Nailwear Pro+ Nail Enamel shades; "Golden Vision", "Orchid Splash", "Noir Emerald". My preferred result was achieved by using Nailwear Pro+ in "Orchid Splash" finished with the nail glitter in "Hello Halo" - I love the and ultra-feminine look!

Image - right: My nails after one coat of nail glitter and 2 coats of top coats. Glitter shades (L-R) - "Silver", "Hello Halo", "Black Bling".

Of course, you don't need to apply the glitter to a full set. Try painting your nails with you chosen colour, then applying the glitter to just your ring finger to jazz up you usual manicure. Gorgeous! (See image - right.)

I love the eye-catching, professional salon-style look you can easily achieve with this product. It adds a fun, party-perfect finish to any shade, perfect for day or night!

Images - nearest-right: I love this intense look! My nails after 2 coats of nail glitter and 2 coats of top coats. Glitter shades (L-R) - "Silver", "Hello Halo", "Black Bling".
Images - far-right: The striking results of using nail glitter with coordinating coloured polish. My nails after two coats of Avon Nailwear Pro+ Nail Enamel, one coat of nail glitter, and 2 coats of top coat. Glitter & Nailwear Pro+ shades (L-R) - "Silver" with "Golden Vision", "Hello Halo" with "Orchid Splash", "Black Bling" with "Noir Emerald".

I actually haven't found any disadvantages to this product. All I can say is, if you choose to use an old eyeshadow brush for application like I did, make sure you then reserve it just for nail glitter use, as if you use it for make up again you'll probably get glitter in your eyes! More shades please, Avon!

Another great product for adding a touch of sparkle to your nails is the Avon Opal Top Coat - click here to read my review!

Avon also sell a Nail Art Tool, which is a double-ended tool for adding unique designs to your manicure - click here to read my review!

Just a recent snap of myself. My hair bleach has nearly all grown out and I'm loving my ginger locks (not usually as bright as it is in the photo, I've just upped the contrast). Time for a new hair cut, I reckon!

NEW Avon Colour Attract Magnetic Nail Enamel - review + photos

© Tuesday T. Bryan Photography
DO NOT USE IMAGES WITHOUT PERMISSION. Copyrighted material
Time for another beauty review! I want to chat to you about a new nail product, Avon Colour Attract Magnetic Nail Enamel, which will be available in the UK from brochure 16.

Magnetic nail polish has been available for some time now, and Avon have decided to release their own. I enjoy using Avon's nail products and I always get excited when they release something new, so this was a must-try for me. There are currently 8 shades and 4 wands to choose from, but I'm sure Avon will release more if these are a hit! Most magnetic nail polishes have the magnet attached to the top of the lid, but Avon sell their polish and magnetic "wands" separately, so you can mix and match the designs and colours - Avon have done the maths for you; add up the combinations you get "32 ways to wow"!

All of the shades are gorgeous. I bought 2; "Rose Reflect" (perfect for this season's Autumn nails) and "Magnetic Metal". I also bought 2 wands, "Chevron" and "Wave". In retrospect I should have bought more shades - "Gold Rush" and "Lavender Lure" are defiantly on my to-buy list (I want all of them, actually)!

Image - below-right: Rose Reflect with Chevron magnetic wand and Magnetic Metal with Wave magnetic wand.
Image - below-left: Rose Reflect and Magnetic Metal without using magnetic wands.

These polishes and magnetic wands are dead easy to use, but instructions are included anyway! Here's what you do;
  • Simply apply 2 coats of your chosen Colour Attract shade over a dry base coat.
  • While the nails are still wet, position the magnet over the nail for approximately 20 seconds - don't worry about moving the magnet accidentally and spoiling the design, the wand "rest" helps keep the magnet in place!
  • When dry, finish with a top coat to seal in your manicure. Voila!!!

I'm really pleased with the results I achieved. The magnetic patterns are fun yet sophisticated, and they really do give a salon-style finish. Of course, you don't have to use the magnetic wands at all, you can wear the colours as they come without the magnetic designs and they still look fantastic, but when you use the wand it pulls the magnetic glittery particles together to create a stunning designs as well as striking contrast and high definition. The result: a professional-looking manicure without the salon price tag!!!
Avon's nail shades stay chip-free for up to 10 days, but you can use Avon Gel Strength Base Coat (click here to read my review) underneath the polish to prolong your nail colour further - I seriously can't praise the stuff enough!!!
When dry, finish your nails with a high-gloss top coat to seal in your manicure for longer and add extra impact. Avon Colour Attract polishes are super-fast drying - another bonus! These shimmering shades are packed with eye-catching glitter, but, unlike most glitter polishes, they're really easy to remove. :)

My conclusion: These polishes and magnets give you an on-trend, professional-looking manicure at home in minutes. Plus they're dirt cheap, dead simple and super-quick to use, and if you get them quick you'll be able to bag them for the introductory price of £3!!! I love them! What more can I say?

Avon Colour Attract Magnetic Nail Enamel and Magnetic Nail Enamel Wands will be available in the UK from Avon Brochure 16. Click here to view nail products on avonshop.co.uk.

Avon Plump Pout Lip Gloss; 4 shades; review + photos

© Tuesday T. Bryan Photography
DO NOT USE IMAGES WITHOUT PERMISSION. Copyrighted material
For many years I never wore lip gloss, I was always a "lipstick only" girl, but this is the wonder-product that converted me.
Trust me, tiger, it's fabulous.

"A gorgeous gloss that inflates lips to maximum fullness and enhances your natural lip colour. Feels lusciously moist and tingly fresh. Dermatologist tested." - Avonshop.co.uk

The consensus is that we find full lips very desirable. Plumping lip products are everywhere, and I bet the vast majority of us have several in our make up bags. Luckily, I'm blessed with naturally full lips, so this product doesn't make my lips appear larger. However, it does make the lip surface appear more even.
Like most other lip-plumping products, this gloss gives a "tingling" sensation as it's working, and it has an invigorating minty-fresh scent to match! I think it feels and smells very pleasant and refreshing, unlike some similar products such as Too Faced Lip Injection, which I find gives a harsher sensation.
The consistency is bang-on perfect. It's quite thick, so it holds on to the lips well and provides great staying-power, but it has zero stickiness. It's also ultra-moisturising, so my lips look healthy feel kissably-soft all day!
The lid contains an application wand tipped with a lip brush. It holds the product well and allows for easy, precise application. I like to apply 2 - 3 coats for maximum coverage.

Rose Pucker; An earthy "twig" red. Very sexy and sophisticated. Great for day and night. This shade is perfect for Autumn. This one is my favorite of the four shades, I can't get enough of it! See below for 2nd image (end of blog).

Plumpaccino; The natural bronze hue combined with the cool, tingly freshness reminds my of iced coffee! You can rock this shade all year round, but it would look fab teamed with a golden tan, so keep it in mind for the Summer!

Image - below; Another snap of myself. In this one I'm wearing Avon Plump Pout Lip Gloss in "Rose Pucker". I look happy, probably because I was just about to go to Coffee#1 - their Double Macchiatos are rude.

Nail polishes are probably my favorite beauty products to review, purely because I bloody love the stuff! Having a flash manicure has to be the ultimate accessory.
Today I'm reviewing one of my recent Avon purchases, the Avon Opal Top Coat. If you're looking for a fun, fashionable finish for your manicure then give this stuff a whirl. I love opals and things with an opalescent finish, so this was a must-have for me! The  the Opal is my birth stone, you know. ;)

Let's discuss it in a little more detail. This new Avon product is a nail top coat consisting of a clear polish with a high-shine finish, and infused with eye-catching opalescent "confetti" sparkles. It's bang on trend at the moment,
and, although I hate to say it as we're only in August, it's a winner for the Christmas party season.

As always, I've added my own high-res images to this review so you can see how the stuff looks for yourself. Click on the photos to view larger versions in better quality!

I tested this product over 5 shades of Avon Nailwear Pro+ (image - above-right), and I wore it over No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in "Winter Tale" (click here for my review!) on my ring finger to add some subtle sparkle to my manicure (image - above). I chose varied colours to show you what the Opal Top Coat looks like over a range of shades and finishes. Personally, I think it looks best when paired with "Inky Blue" (usually a very deep metallic blue, but my photo makes it look almost black, sorry!) and "Noir Emerald" (possibly my favorite Nailwear Pro+ shade). I also think it looks pretty good with "Decadence". I don't think the lighter shades, "Real Red" and "Orchid Splash", contrast as well with the opalescent sparkles. However, I do think it compliments No7's "Winter Tale" (click here for my review), it seems to complete the manicure, and it adds a touch of fun sparkle without looking cheap. What do you think? It's advertised as a top coat, but you can wear it alone for a more subtle look. I've added a "4-in-1" image to show you the polish in different lighting from various angles (image - below-right).

The opal "confetti" comes out slightly uneven in various shapes and sizes, but I believe that to be part of it's charm. It certainly makes in more interesting, and you'll always get a unique finish!
A little polish goes a long way. I personally think 1 - 2 coats is plenty, any more and I think it would look tacky and peel easily.
Speaking of peeling, this stuff has fantastic wear. I wore 2 coats over 1 coat of Avon Gel Strength Base Coat (the stuff is a dream; click here to read my review), and it lasted 4 days before I noticed even the smallest signs of wear, which was a little pe
eling around the cuticles of some nails.

There's not much more to say really, so I'll keep this one short and sweet! I can't fault this polish at all. It's on-trend, it's eye-catching, it's a great way to add a unique finish to your usual manicure, and it's dirt cheap.

It's a Party Season must-have!❄ (Loving the snowflake symbols.)

Image - below: Just a recent snap of myself. :) Annoyed that my leopard-print hair clip is showing, but otherwise I feel it's a rather aesthetically pleasing photo, even if I do say so myself. ;)
