☆NEW Avon LUXE COUTURE Créme Lipstick; 3 shades; review + photos☆

Source: avonshop.co.uk/
I'm simultaneously writing this review and on hold to a mobile network company. I was going to name and shame them, but the fact that I'm calling to tell them I want to leave their network should be enough - at least I'll never have to phone them again!
[2 minutes later...] Finally! I'm off hold and the the call is done. Now I can focus on my writing.

Today's review is about a product from Avon's new make up range, the LUXE collection. Their "exclusive premium" range is out in time for Christmas, and it's a perfect way to treat yourself and your loved ones without breaking the bank!

The new range includes a ladies perfume, a jewelry roll, 10 shades of lipstick, 6 eyeshadow palettes, 2 liquid eyeliner shades, 2 mascara shades, 8 shades of lip gloss, a shimmer powder compact, and 5 shades of liquid foundation.

Today I will be reviewing Avon Luxe Couture Créme Lipstick in three shades; High Style Coral, Designer Red, and Stiletto Red.

"Silk-infused formula with pearlescent colour."
- Avon.

The first thing I noticed about these lipsticks is the glamorous golden packaging. It's gorgeous! All of the Luxe range products are presented in eye-catching, golden chrome-effect packaging. It's really stylish and makes the products appear much more high-end and expensive than they really are. They really do look like designer products! They look like accessories as opposed to just make up. It's very sleek and sophisticated (see image - top right).

Now, let's discuss the lipsticks themselves. The formula is divine! Avon say these lipsticks make the lips feel more voluptuous and as soft as silk, and they certainly live up to the claim! My lips felt deeply moisturised and nourished, both during and after wear. Some moisturising lipsticks don't have very good wear, they often don't stay in place very long and require re-applying regularly, however that is not the case with these lipsticks. I had to top up the colour every few hours and after eating, but otherwise the soft hue lasted for hours! Very impressive. So far, so good!

I chose these three shades because I thought "High Style Coral" looked irresistible in the brochure, and I picked the two red shades because I'm a sucker for red lips!
All the shades have a slightly sheer finish, but the colour can be layered to make the hue more intense.

☆High Style Coral: (images - right and end of blog) As I said previously, I had high expectations after spotting this shade in the brochure photos. Many times I've found that shades don't look as good in reality as they do in a brands' advertising images, and sometimes they look like a different shade altogether, however this shade didn't disappoint. It's a soft, sun-kissed, caramel shade that gives the lips a flattering pearly sheen.

☆Designer Red: (Image - right) This bright, orange-toned red is a classic shade for the lips. It looks best paired with simple eye make up and pale, flawless skin. With the winter weather and the Christmas party season approaching, this shade is an ideal buy!

"Stiletto Red."

☆Stiletto Red: (Image - below-right) This red is a more delicate than "Designer Red", but it's not at all subtle! For me, this shade worked perfectly with medium-dark neutral eye shadow and a rosey blusher. Again, this shade is great for Autumn/Winter make up.

Now, let's talk dollar. This range is a little more expensive than most Avon cosmetics. Everything released from the range so far will cost you between £6 and £16 at the normal prices, and these lipsticks will set you back £9.50 each. If you snap them up for the introductory prices they'll be a little cheaper, though.

So, with Christmas just around the corner, why not treat yourself or your loved ones to a little something special from Avon's new luxurious range?

Rimmel WAKE ME UP Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch; Shades 002 & 004; review + photos

Today I'm reviewing Rimmel WAKE ME UP Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch in two shades, 002 Radiant Rose and 004 Shimmering Sand. When these products arrived at my door I couldn't wait to try them! The blushers I use are usually quite strong, so I was looking forward to giving my cheeks some fresh-faced luminous colour instead. This product can be found in the "Highlighters" section of the Rimmel London website, but 004 Radiant Rose is actually more of a blusher.

"It's time to make you glow!
Lightweight, ultra blendable mousse formula gives an instant touch of radiance and illuminates the skin.
Wakes up skin with a healthy looking glow and a long lasting flush of colour."
http://uk.rimmellondon.com/
Before even applying the product, the first thing I noticed was the delectable refreshing fragrance! It's a tropical, zingy scent that really does "wake you up"! To me, it's irresistible, and very suited to the name of the product.

Image - right: Swatches of Rimmel WAKE ME UP Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch on the back of my hand. Top swatch - 002 Radiant Rose / bottom swatch - 004 Shimmering Sand.

It's simple to use. I just squeezed a little onto my index finger, then dabbed small dots of product onto the desired area and blended in. Re-apply for a more intense result!

A little goes a long way. Just a few dabs of this product gives a healthy flush of youthful colour and a .
warm luminous glow

This product has a mousse formula. It's feels as smooth as velvet as it glides onto the skin, and, when dry, it feels as-light-as-a-feather and as soft as silk! It's "almost-weightless consistency" allows you to successfully build up the layers without it feeling heavy; great for all year round, but especially good in the Summer heat.

It's staying power is impressive, too. I found that it stayed in place all day without the need for touch-ups. The colour stayed true and the shimmer didn't fade. I also found that it didn't transfer onto clothing, hands, etc etc, unlike most powder blushers and highlighters.

Now let's discuss the results. This product does not give a strong hue, instead it provides a healthy flush of illuminating colour, but it is build-able, so you can add more product to give a stronger result if you wish. It gives the skin a luminous glow with a delicately shimmering finish. It blends perfectly which gives a gorgeous natural look. I really love the simple, youthful, fresh-faced result. It's perfect for daytime make up!

Image - right: 002 Radiant Rose gives a healthy flush of radiant, natural, rosey-pink.

I also love the versatility of this stuff. It can be used as highlighter and/or blusher, day and/or night! To transform this product simply add more layers. As the layers are built up, the colour becomes brighter and the shimmer becomes more intense - an eye-catching radiant evening look!

002 Radiant Rose: Gives the cheeks a healthy flush of radiant, natural, rosey-pink with a lightly shimmering finish. A perfect daytime blusher. (See images - above-right & end of blog.)

004 Shimmering Sand: A subtle nude shade that gives a youthful, shimmering glow. Excellent for highlighting the face and body, or even use in the place of a blusher for a much more delicate result. (See images - right & end of blog.)

Image - right: 004 Shimmering Sand is a subtle nude shade that gives a youthful, shimmering glow

* Top tip! Try wearing the shades together for a glowing complexion and accentuated facial contours. *

As I mentioned at the start of this review, I'm still a sucker for strong blushers, but these delicate mousse alternatives have refreshed my love for the glowing fresh-faced look. The colour, the staying-power, the texture, the fragrance, the versatility, the results - I love everything about it! Nice one, Rimmel!

TIGI Bed Head Headrush; Hair care review #2 + photos

If you're looking for a finishing product to add intense shine to your hair do, look no further than TIGI Bed Head Headrush.
"Shine Adrenaline with a Superfine Mist."

"Super fine shine spray that will go straight to your head."

"The extreme, all over gloss of this shine spray is every girl’s best friend."

This is a product that I have been using for years. Shine sprays are a must-have finishing product for me, and I find this one impossible to beat.

People say that you "eat with your eyes", and the same basic rule applies to anything - basically, first impressions count. Why is this relevant? Well, just look at the striking colours used on the packaging! It's sure to grab your attention. And designing eye-catching packaging to get peoples' interest really works. For example, one of my favorite mascaras is Maybelline Great Lash Mascara - the bright packaging stood out from the other boring designs, so I purchased it (and it sure was a great buy, I love that stuff).

Image - right: TIGI Bed Head Headrush's eye-catching packaging is sure to grab your attention!
Now, let's talk about the consistency. Some finishing products can leave your hair with an unpleasant texture. There's nothing worse than adding the final touches to your beautiful 'do, only to find your hair feels sticky, wet, or heavy. With TIGI Bed Head Headrush, this is simply not an issue. It's a super-fine, fast-drying, weightless mist that gives the hair a feather-soft texture. Plus, it has a delectable fruity fragrance that leaves your hair smelling heavenly!

Another thing that can let a product down is when you have to use a lot to achieve the desired result. Using lots of product, particularly sprays, can leave your hair looking and feeling sticky, wet, and heavy. No one wants their perfect hair style to be ruined by an over-load of product! Again, this is not an issue for Headrush. You only need a quick spray onto your dry, styled hair to give an ultra-glossy finish. However, it is build-able, so if you want to create a striking mirror shine, just add more! The weightless mist can be layered without feeling heavy or looking drenched, and it will retain it's super-soft texture. You'll also be layering up that delicious fruity fragrance, so you'll smell better still!

The shine lasts all day, so you don't need to worry about topping up your 'do. However, if you do fancy using it on the go, you can purchase mini travel-size Headrush aerosols to pop in your handbag (click here to view on www.scentsetionalperfumes.com). They're also available in a 2-piece set, which contains one full-size 200ml Headrush aerosol, plus a 75ml travel-size one (Click here to view on www.lookfantasic.com). You can also buy Biggie Headrush, which is the same great product in a large 300ml aerosol (click here to view on www.feelunique.com).

The result is a stunning, super-glossy, eye-catching shine. It also adds depth to you hair colour and highlights, giving a "3-dimensional" result. It adds emphasis to curly hair and really makes each wave stand out. It eliminates static, too, a problem which people with fine hair often battle with. The smooth, healthy, fabulous finish is to die for. Headrush might not give a natural-looking shine, but it's a look that's sure to turn heads! If you want a finishing shine spray that gives a more natural result, then click here to check out my Avon Argan Oil Lightweight Gloss Spray review.

I have tested loads of beauty products over the years, and I haven't found one that matches Headrush's fabulous results. My hair looks healthy and super-shiny, and smells divine! It's a must-have for me!

♥Nails Inc - Luminous Red Metallic; review + photos♥

The popular nail product brand, Nails Inc, have teamed up with Colgate to offer this fab deal to Boots customers:
FREE full size Nails Inc Luminous Red nail polish when you purchase Colgate Max White One toothpaste from Boots.
It's another fantastic Boots deal that I couldn't afford to miss! CLICK HERE to view the deal.

I haven't started on the toothpaste yet, I'll give you some feedback when I do, but I have used the polish, so let me tell you a bit about it. :)

There are two shades available, Luminous Red Matte and Luminous Red Metallic. I went for Metallic as I have some matte reds already, but I love it so much that I'm planning on returning to Boots to acquire the matte one, too!

Image - above-right; Nails Inc Luminous Red Metallic appears a stunning vivid red-orange when it reflects bright sunlight.

The shade itself is gorgeous. It's a classic bright red, which I believe you can't go wrong with. Bright reds seem to suit anyone, work with any outfit, and look great all year round. The metallic finish gives it a modern edge, and allows the polish reflect a spectrum of ever-changing colours when exposed to different sources of light. The top-right image shows the polish in strong sunlight, reflecting a vivid shade of red that appears almost orange in tone - stunning! The image below was taken indoors in dull natural light. As you can see, the polish appears a darker, more seductive red.

The coverage is great. It's almost opaque with just one coat, but I applied two coats for a flawless and longer-lasting finish. It looks a little dull when dry, so add a super-glossy top coat to give a high-shine finish and to prolong it's wear.

The wear is impressive, too. I applied Avon Gel Strength Base Coat (click for review), followed by 2 coats of Nails Inc Luminous Red Metallic, finished with a single coat of Collection 2-in-1 Top Coat. I found that for 2 days there were no signs of wear. On day 3 there were signs of wear beginning to show, but they were very minimal and barely noticeable, just a few chips around the edges (see images - right & below). If your nails are in better condition than mine and your hands see less work, then you'll get even better wear out of it than I did!

Image - right; Nails Inc Luminous Red Metallic appears a darker, seductive red when seen indoors in natural light. After 3 days it only shows minimal signs of wear.

I'm going to keep this review short and sweet. If I get my hands on the Luminous Red Matte polish I'll be sure to add it to this review, and keep your eyes out for my thoughts on Colgate Max White One!

Image - below; I took this photo in a mirror! I am wearing Nails Inc Luminous Red Metallic, which shows only minimal signs of wear after three days. My "D" hand tattoo stands for my partner's initial.

Avon Plump Pout Lip Gloss; 4 shades; review + photos

© Tuesday T. Bryan Photography
DO NOT USE IMAGES WITHOUT PERMISSION. Copyrighted material
For many years I never wore lip gloss, I was always a "lipstick only" girl, but this is the wonder-product that converted me.
Trust me, tiger, it's fabulous.

"A gorgeous gloss that inflates lips to maximum fullness and enhances your natural lip colour. Feels lusciously moist and tingly fresh. Dermatologist tested." - Avonshop.co.uk

The consensus is that we find full lips very desirable. Plumping lip products are everywhere, and I bet the vast majority of us have several in our make up bags. Luckily, I'm blessed with naturally full lips, so this product doesn't make my lips appear larger. However, it does make the lip surface appear more even.
Like most other lip-plumping products, this gloss gives a "tingling" sensation as it's working, and it has an invigorating minty-fresh scent to match! I think it feels and smells very pleasant and refreshing, unlike some similar products such as Too Faced Lip Injection, which I find gives a harsher sensation.
The consistency is bang-on perfect. It's quite thick, so it holds on to the lips well and provides great staying-power, but it has zero stickiness. It's also ultra-moisturising, so my lips look healthy feel kissably-soft all day!
The lid contains an application wand tipped with a lip brush. It holds the product well and allows for easy, precise application. I like to apply 2 - 3 coats for maximum coverage.

Plumping Pearl; Gives the lips an elegant pearly shine, with tiny iridescent flecks of shimmer. This subtle shade goes with all colours, and it's perfect for anytime, anywhere. It's a great go-to lip colour, especially if you're in a rush! See below for 2nd image (end of blog).

Pink Pucker; This is a soft, nude pink shade with a pearly shimmering finish. Again, this gloss goes with everything, so it's a perfect all-round lip colour. Looks nothing like it does on the models in the Avon brochure photos, though! See below for 2nd image (end of blog).

Rose Pucker; An earthy "twig" red. Very sexy and sophisticated. Great for day and night. This shade is perfect for Autumn. This one is my favorite of the four shades, I can't get enough of it! See below for 2nd image (end of blog).

Plumpaccino; The natural bronze hue combined with the cool, tingly freshness reminds my of iced coffee! You can rock this shade all year round, but it would look fab teamed with a golden tan, so keep it in mind for the Summer!

Avon Opal Top Coat - review + photos [Apologies for corrupted "4-in-1" image!]

Nail polishes are probably my favorite beauty products to review, purely because I bloody love the stuff! Having a flash manicure has to be the ultimate accessory.
Today I'm reviewing one of my recent Avon purchases, the Avon Opal Top Coat. If you're looking for a fun, fashionable finish for your manicure then give this stuff a whirl. I love opals and things with an opalescent finish, so this was a must-have for me! The  the Opal is my birth stone, you know. ;)

Let's discuss it in a little more detail. This new Avon product is a nail top coat consisting of a clear polish with a high-shine finish, and infused with eye-catching opalescent "confetti" sparkles. It's bang on trend at the moment,
and, although I hate to say it as we're only in August, it's a winner for the Christmas party season.

Image - above: My manicure using No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in "Winter Tale" and a coat of Avon Opal Top Coat on my ring finger. Click here for my No7 "Winter Tale" review!

I tested this product over 5 shades of Avon Nailwear Pro+ (image - above-right), and I wore it over No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in "Winter Tale" (click here for my review!) on my ring finger to add some subtle sparkle to my manicure (image - above). I chose varied colours to show you what the Opal Top Coat looks like over a range of shades and finishes. Personally, I think it looks best when paired with "Inky Blue" (usually a very deep metallic blue, but my photo makes it look almost black, sorry!) and "Noir Emerald" (possibly my favorite Nailwear Pro+ shade). I also think it looks pretty good with "Decadence". I don't think the lighter shades, "Real Red" and "Orchid Splash", contrast as well with the opalescent sparkles. However, I do think it compliments No7's "Winter Tale" (click here for my review), it seems to complete the manicure, and it adds a touch of fun sparkle without looking cheap. What do you think? It's advertised as a top coat, but you can wear it alone for a more subtle look. I've added a "4-in-1" image to show you the polish in different lighting from various angles (image - below-right).

The opal "confetti" comes out slightly uneven in various shapes and sizes, but I believe that to be part of it's charm. It certainly makes in more interesting, and you'll always get a unique finish!
A little polish goes a long way. I personally think 1 - 2 coats is plenty, any more and I think it would look tacky and peel easily.
Speaking of peeling, this stuff has fantastic wear. I wore 2 coats over 1 coat of Avon Gel Strength Base Coat (the stuff is a dream; click here to read my review), and it lasted 4 days before I noticed even the smallest signs of wear, which was a little pe
eling around the cuticles of some nails.

There's not much more to say really, so I'll keep this one short and sweet! I can't fault this polish at all. It's on-trend, it's eye-catching, it's a great way to add a unique finish to your usual manicure, and it's dirt cheap.

It's a Party Season must-have!❄ (Loving the snowflake symbols.)

Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer - review + photos

© Tuesday T. Bryan Photography
DO NOT USE IMAGES WITHOUT PERMISSION.
Copyrighted material
My most recent foundation purchase is Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moistuizer, or "Sheer Colour Tinted Moisturiser" if you're British like me. ;) I was going to go for a BB or CC cream, but as they're also basically just tinted moisturisers I decided to give this product a go.

Since my purchase, "Stila's iconic tinted moisturizer got a makeover!". I'm reviewing the original, but I'll link you to the new one as it's the same but better! I'll make a few comparisons between the original and the updated versions as I go along. :)

It's available in 9 shades, and I've got the lightest one to suit my fair skin (originally the lightest shade was called "Ivory", but the updated shade is called "Bare").
It comes in a 50ml bottle and a little goes a long way, so you get plenty of bang for your buck.

Stila say... "It's more than just makeup; it's sheer luminous color infused with light-diffusing pigments to help diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles..." - stilacosmetics.com

Here's one thing us ladies should all agree on; In the hot summer months you should swap your daytime foundation for something lighter i.e. a lightweight foundation, or a tinted moisturiser, or a "BB" or "CC" cream. This one has the added benefit of containing SPF15 (the updated one has SPF20). I found it easy to apply with my Mac and Bobbi Brown foundation brushes or a foundation sponge, but I simply apply it with clean hands as it's easier to blend and the moisturiser is absorbed faster. The updated version is also water-proof, so it's even more suited to the summertime!

Firstly, let's talk coverage. I'm a natural red head, so I have very fair skin and lots of freckles. I like my freckles to be visible, but I can't stand imperfections! For this reason I tend to opt for a medium coverage foundation, but in the heat I need something lighter with added benefits - that's where this tinted moisturizer comes in. ;)
The consistency of this product seems fairly thick at first, but when applied the moisture is absorbed leaving a weightless sheer coverage (a little concealer may be required due to the light coverage). The sheer coverage allows your closest-matching shade to adapt and blend seamlessly with your natural skin tone, giving a totally natural-looking finish. It also doesn't cake or clog your pores like some thicker products do.

this product (I know the photos have a slightly different tone, I took them in different lighting - sorry!).

It also evens out the skin tone. I'm lucky to have an almost completely even complexion naturally, but I still noticed the difference whilst wearing this product. It "blurs" pores and imperfections to help perfect the complexion, a bit like a primer does, and it also gives the skin a healthy radiant glow (see image - right). It's also meant to diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles, but luckily I don't have any, so I can't comment. ;)

It's long-wearing, too. Both the moisture and the colour lasts for hours, so you're base will last all day as well as keeping your feeling skin hydrated and looking healthy.
Now onto something I feel very strongly about! This product contains an SPF (Sun Protection Factor). It's always a bonus when a product contains an SPF, but remember never to rely on the sunscreen in your makeup and facial cream alone for sun protection, you should always wear sunscreen, too! We are also advised to wear sunscreen all year round, not just in the summer months, as harmful UV rays are present in all seasons. To read more about Ultraviolet Radiation use these helpful links:
http://www.skincancer.org/prevention/uva-and-uvb/shining-light-on-ultraviolet-radiation
http://www.uv-damage.org/en/sunlight-effects-skin/0/default.html
Although the moisturiser and SPF are defiantly advantages, they do not allow the product to give a matte finish, so you'll have to apply a powder on top. You don't need a lot, a dusting of loose mineral powder does the trick. :)
I found it takes a while for the moisturiser and SPF to be fully absorbed by my combination skin, but you probably won't have this issue if you have dry skin. I advise you apply it after applying sunscreen and your daily moisturiser (or you could use it instead of your moisturiser), then go and have a coffee or something while you're letting your skin take it in - try to let it absorb fully before applying more makeup! Of course, if wearing this product alone you won't need to worry about absorption time at all! :)
Consider your skin type before purchasing, as moisture levels present in your skin will effect absorption time - if you have dry skin it should absorb almost instantly, however if you have oily skin this issue will most likely be amplified!

Here's another thing you should take note of. Whenever I use this product, any make up applied to my eyelids on top of it creases over the day...very annoying! A good quality primer helps with this issue, but an eyeshadow primer does the trick perfectly. Check out my review of Avon's primers (click here), which includes information on their eyeshadow primer, too!

Well, I've listed as many pros, cons, and ways to beat the cons as I can. I hope you've found my review helpful, and remember to stay safe in the sun. ;)
