We all like to keep on the look-out for local produce, but not many of us think beyond what we eat. There are many toiletries and beauty products available that are produced right on our doorsteps.
Hand made in Somerset, the Bramley range consists of high-quality nature-inspired delights to pamper you from head-to-toe. The mastermind behind these indulgent treats is Chloë Luxton. She’s no stranger to developing bath and body products, and she’s poured her knowledge and experience into perfecting the Bramley range. The products have a strong connection with nature, from containing the finest essential oils and natural botanicals on the inside, to the eco-friendly packaging and pretty floral labels on the outside.

On the Bramley website you will find a wide range of single products, as well as gift setstravel-sized miniatureswash bags, and even an all-natural fragranced candle scented with uplifting rose and spearmint. A personal favorite of mine has to be the hand cream. It left my hands feeling irresistibly soft and silky smooth, and the zingy grapefruit fragrance is like a burst of sunshine to the senses. It’s the perfect product to follow Bramely’s hand wash, which smells sublime as well as having important antibacterial properties. You’ll also find a range of products to cleanse and indulge the body. A relaxing bath with Bramley’s sweet orange and lavender bubble bath with a sprinkling of lavender and geranium bath salts is sure to help you unwind. If you’re more of a “shower person”, don’t despair! The invigorating mandarin and lemongrass body wash is sure to keep everyone happy. After cleansing, treat yourself to the Bramley body lotion, developed to detoxify and hydrate the skin (tip: excess water will only dilute your moisturising product, so make sure the skin is not too wet before application).
I’m also a fan of the hair care products. The cleansing shampoo’s rich rosemary and lemon-scented lather is sure to keep your hair squeaky-clean, and the balancing conditioner will keep your hair looking healthy and smelling fresh-as-a-daisy!

It’s safe to say that I’m a lover of these little citrus-scented luxuries. The range was originally designed for the guests of The Beckford Arms, Wiltshire, but they are now available for us all to enjoy. To purchase and for more information visit www.bramleyproducts.co.uk.

When I opened my delightful delivery I instantly fell in love with the refreshing fragrance of the aromatic soaps. The Lavender & Geranium Soap has a relaxing floral fragrance. It's gentle formula is suitable for everyone, but Wild Sage also suggest it for use on the hair to cleanse and add shine. The uplifting Lemongrass & Tea Tree Soap helps to balance the skin's sebum levels, and the powerful energizing aroma is sure to awaken your senses! For a fresh scent and light exfoliation, try the Rosemary & Tea Tree Soap, which contains chopped rosemary to gently scrub the skin. It's also said that rosemary stimulates hair follicles, so you could try using this one as a shampoo, too! All Wild Sage & Co soaps are handmade with love, care, and the finest natural ingredients.

The Oil Cleansing Method is available for both dry and oily skin types (either can be used on combination skin), and comes with useful information and directions for use. There's no need to wash the face first - this hard-working cleanser battles through make up and dirt without any harsh chemicals, leaving your skin feeling fresh and replenished. And, of course, it smells heavenly!
Face scrubs are one of my favorite cleansing products, and Wild Sage's Balancing Face Scrub scores top marks from me! It has a pleasant texture, a refreshing aroma, and leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth, and positively glowing. This tin of exfoliating goodness is the perfect product for rejuvenating the skin, without the use of damaging chemicals.
The sweetly-scented Argan Balm is a moisturiser with a difference. It's a solid balm presented in a glass jar, but can also be purchased in a little tin which is ideal for travel. I've never seen anything quite like it! It's a great way to round off any skin care routine to leave the skin feeling soft and hydrated. A little goes a long way, so this little pot of beneficial balm will keep your skin feeling glorious for months. Care instructions are included to help you get the most out of it.
Looking for a product to battle dry lips? Well forget greasy, sticky balms and try Wild Sage's Red Clay Lip Balm. It melts onto the lips, and leaves them feeling silky smooth, wonderfully moisturised, and kiss-ably soft - pucker up, ladies! It also gives a subtle hint of rosy colour. Have a pot handy to keep dehydration at bay.

High-End Hair Serums & Their Penny-Pinching Alternatives; 8 wonder-products for specific hair do dilemmas!!!

Blow-drying, colouring, styling, products, heat, the sun, and the environment can all cause damage to our hair. There are countless numbers of hair care products on the market to treat all sorts of problems. Oils and serums seem to be the most effective treatments as they instantly provide our damaged locks with deep, intense nourishment. So I've compiled a list of some popular products from more expensive brands that come with a rather sizable price tag, and a cheaper alternative product that delivers similar results without breaking the bank. Each product varies in the hair do dilemma it's said to solve. What will you opt for, a bank-breaker or a money-saver?
All prices are approximate.

1. For all-round goodness.
Liz Earle Botanical Shine Nourishing Hair Oil.

If you're looking for an easy-to-use product with multiple benefits, this may be the miracle product for you. This nourishing hair oil from Liz Earle claims to "condition, smooth and minimise frizz in one luxurious step". This clever little oil could prove especially useful to you if you often dry and style your hair using heat, as it protects against heat damage caused by styling and also reduces blow-drying time. With an RRP of £15.00 for a 50ml pump, it's not the cheapest product on the market, but a little goes a long way as you only need 1-2 pumps per use.

Penny-Pinching alternative: Tresemmé Salon Smooth Serum. £4.50 (30ml).

2. Moroccan Argan Oil treatment.
Moroccanoil Treatment.

I'm sure most of us have heard the recent hype about the benefits of using Moroccan Argan Oil for our hair. There's been a huge increase of products containing this "miracle oil", and this one from Moroccanoil comes with a hefty price tag of about £30 for 100ml. Not only does it promise to add a glossy finish and brilliant shine, but it also has the ability to repair damage caused by the environment and chemical procedures. It can used on natural hair, but also on wigs and hair extensions. It's instantly absorbed to give a natural-looking healthy finish without residue.

Penny-Pinching alternative: Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Weightless Healing Oil Spray. £6.99 (118ml).

3. For coloured hair.
Kérastase ELIXIR ULTIME Colour-Treated Hair.

If you have coloured hair it can sometimes prove difficult to keep it looking and feeling as lustrous and vivid as appears when first dyed. There are some excellent treatments available, and this "beautifying-oil" from the popular brand Kérastase is used to restore radiance and depth of colour as well as to protect your colour-treated locks. At around £30 for a 125ml bottle, it doesn't come cheap!

Penny-Pinching alternative: L'Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil for Coloured Hair. £8.50 (100ml)

4. To add glorious shine.
Serge Normant Meta Sheer Dry Oil Finishing Spray.

Dull hair is a problem many of us suffer from, and a temporary quick-fix solution is to finish your hair with a shine spray. This weightless finishing oil by Serge Normant not only adds luxurious shine, but it also controls frizz, adds texture, and contains natural botanical oils, vitamins and proteins for extra nourishment. It has a non-greasy look and feel, and can be used on wet or dry hair. A 50ml bottle will set you back approximately £23, so use it sparingly!

☆Penny-Pinching alternative: Avon Advance Techniques 360 Nourishment Moroccan Argan Oil Lightweight Gloss Spray. £5.50 (100ml). Click here for my review of this brilliant cheap and cheerful product from Avon!

5. To restore balance to dry or oily scalps.
j.f. lazartigue Oily Scalp Intensive Sebum Treatment Serum.

A dry scalp often leads to the much-dreaded dandruff, but, with so many products available to nourish and hydrate, you needn't panic! This treatment from j.f. lazartigue restores the balance of your scalp and so fights dryness and excess sebum (the root of oily hair). This intensive treatment is easy to use, it's simply massaged into the scalp and left in - there's no need to rinse. Applying it to the scalp allow the product to work on the roots of the hair which promotes healthy growth. It's also deep-cleaning, purifying, and anti-bacterial. If you often suffer from dandruff or oily hair, this is definitely a product to consider, but be prepared for your wallet to take a hit, as it will cost you around £28.00 for 75ml.

Penny-Pinching alternative: BC Bonacure Scalp Therapy Serum. £10.00 (30ml).

6. To protect from sun damage.
Shu Uemura Art of Hair Essence Absolue.

In the heat, our hair is often forgotten as we focus on the protection of our skin, but hair suffers easily from sun damage, too. If you're one for splashing out on hair care products, maybe the whopping £40.00 price tag for 150ml of this Shu Uemura product won't come much of a shock. It promises to protect the hair from damage caused by UV rays, combat dryness and frizz, as well as providing intense moisture and deep nourishment. It's miracle ingredient is said to be Camellia Oil, which is a great scalp-conditioner that also promotes healthy hair growth.

Penny-Pinching alternative: Solar Sport SPF 30 Dry Sunscreen For Hair And Scalp. £4.99 (25ml).

7. To protect and add volume to fine hair.
Nioxin DiaBoost.

Fine hair can prove problematic as it's prone to break easily and become dry and unmanageable, often leaving it's sufferers craving more voluminous and nourished locks. A treatment is a great way to provide your hair with intense hydration, which is what this product from Nioxin is proven to give. It also boosts the hair's volume by increasing the thickness of your existing strands, makes the hair more manageable, and strengthens weak hair making it more resilient and able to fight breakages. Daily application is advised to achieve the best results. At around £40.00 for 100ml, all that goodness doesn't come cheap!

Penny-Pinching alternative: Joico Body Luxe Volumizing Elixir. £11.00 (200ml).

8. For mature and damaged hair.
L'Anza Healing Strength Neem Plant Silk Serum.

Over time our hair becomes more vulnerable and shows age, just like our skin, but their are products out their to fight signs of ageing and revitalise mature hair. This treatment serum from L'Anza fortifies the hair to make it stronger, causing breakage to reduce dramatically and promoting strong, healthy growth. It also adds glorious, youthful shine without looking oily. This product is not only excellent for mature hair, but it could also be your hair's savior if your locks have been damaged by heat styling and chemical processing. It has added UVA/UVB protection to help combat damage caused by the sun's harmful rays.

Penny-Pinching alternative: Weleda Revitalising Hair Tonic. £9.95 (100ml).

So, there you have my list of High-End Hair Oils and Serums. There are many more available, but I'd be researching and writing indefinitely! Hopefully, my findings have helped you discover the product that may resolve your barnet issues once-and-for-all!

TIGI Bed Head Headrush; Hair care review #2 + photos

If you're looking for a finishing product to add intense shine to your hair do, look no further than TIGI Bed Head Headrush.
"Shine Adrenaline with a Superfine Mist."

"Super fine shine spray that will go straight to your head."

"The extreme, all over gloss of this shine spray is every girl’s best friend."

This is a product that I have been using for years. Shine sprays are a must-have finishing product for me, and I find this one impossible to beat.

People say that you "eat with your eyes", and the same basic rule applies to anything - basically, first impressions count. Why is this relevant? Well, just look at the striking colours used on the packaging! It's sure to grab your attention. And designing eye-catching packaging to get peoples' interest really works. For example, one of my favorite mascaras is Maybelline Great Lash Mascara - the bright packaging stood out from the other boring designs, so I purchased it (and it sure was a great buy, I love that stuff).

Image - right: TIGI Bed Head Headrush's eye-catching packaging is sure to grab your attention!
Now, let's talk about the consistency. Some finishing products can leave your hair with an unpleasant texture. There's nothing worse than adding the final touches to your beautiful 'do, only to find your hair feels sticky, wet, or heavy. With TIGI Bed Head Headrush, this is simply not an issue. It's a super-fine, fast-drying, weightless mist that gives the hair a feather-soft texture. Plus, it has a delectable fruity fragrance that leaves your hair smelling heavenly!

Another thing that can let a product down is when you have to use a lot to achieve the desired result. Using lots of product, particularly sprays, can leave your hair looking and feeling sticky, wet, and heavy. No one wants their perfect hair style to be ruined by an over-load of product! Again, this is not an issue for Headrush. You only need a quick spray onto your dry, styled hair to give an ultra-glossy finish. However, it is build-able, so if you want to create a striking mirror shine, just add more! The weightless mist can be layered without feeling heavy or looking drenched, and it will retain it's super-soft texture. You'll also be layering up that delicious fruity fragrance, so you'll smell better still!

The shine lasts all day, so you don't need to worry about topping up your 'do. However, if you do fancy using it on the go, you can purchase mini travel-size Headrush aerosols to pop in your handbag (click here to view on www.scentsetionalperfumes.com). They're also available in a 2-piece set, which contains one full-size 200ml Headrush aerosol, plus a 75ml travel-size one (Click here to view on www.lookfantasic.com). You can also buy Biggie Headrush, which is the same great product in a large 300ml aerosol (click here to view on www.feelunique.com).

The result is a stunning, super-glossy, eye-catching shine. It also adds depth to you hair colour and highlights, giving a "3-dimensional" result. It adds emphasis to curly hair and really makes each wave stand out. It eliminates static, too, a problem which people with fine hair often battle with. The smooth, healthy, fabulous finish is to die for. Headrush might not give a natural-looking shine, but it's a look that's sure to turn heads! If you want a finishing shine spray that gives a more natural result, then click here to check out my Avon Argan Oil Lightweight Gloss Spray review.

I have tested loads of beauty products over the years, and I haven't found one that matches Headrush's fabulous results. My hair looks healthy and super-shiny, and smells divine! It's a must-have for me!

Avon Advance Techniques 360 Nourishment Moroccan Argan Oil Lightweight Gloss Spray - hair care review #2 + photos

My second hair care review is of another Avon product (my first featured Avon Advance
Techniques Daily Shine Quick Touch Leave-In Conditioner - click here to view my review).

Avon sell all sorts of hair products, from dyes to styling and tools to cleaning. There's something for everyone and it's all dirt cheap and good quality, so they're well worth reviewing!

Anyway, onto the product. It's called Avon Advance Technique360 Nourishment Argan Oil Lightweight Gloss Spray (try saying that in a hurry). As the name suggests, it's a spray for adding shine to your hair, and it contains the much-loved Argan Oil. It's suitable for all hair types, and it's the latest addition to Avon's "Moroccan Argan Oil" range. I got great results from the range's conditioner, so my hopes were high for this finishing product, and I wasn't let down!

My usual shine spray is Bed Head Headrush (click here to view on feelunique.com). I buy it from salons and it costs around £15 per aerosol - it's wicked stuff, and it defiantly deserves a review soon. Avon's Gloss Spray is much cheaper; you don't get quite the same "mirror-shine" effect, but it's a small compromise considering the cash you'll save!
(Just had to do a runner from a wasp mid-review, the little devil took me by surprise.)
Another pro point is it's great fragrance. It's neither feminine nor masculine, so whatever your gender, don't let it put you off! It's a refreshing and invigorating scent, very uplifting. It doesn't overwhelm your body, it just smells nice when you spritz it on your hair. :)
  •  Image - right: My daily hair do finished with just a touch of Avon Argan Oil Gloss Spray. Even with my cropped and quiffed cut, this product makes a pleasant difference. It looks even better in reality - The photos just don't do it justice!
The formula is bang-on, too. It's an almost-weightless, non-sticky and non-greasy mist. It doesn't dry very quickly, but it doesn't give a wet-look or feel heavy either, so this isn't a problem at all. The hair gains a healthy shine and feels feather-soft!
I also approve of the fact that it comes in a spray-bottle, as opposed to the common spray-aerosol format for hair styling products. I hate how most aerosol products get down your throat, particularly hairspray and deodorant. I go in another room to use these products and I hold my breath when I'm applying them - it's so unpleasant! Anyway, that's not an issue with this Avon product. :)
Also, a little goes a long way. You only need a couple of sprays on your dry and styled 'do to give it a shiny polished finish. It's not a blinding mirror-shine look like Bed Head's Headrush, but more of a natural healthy shine that leaves your hair looking and feeling fantastic! It's definitely worth a whirl!

Avon Advance Techniques 360 Nourishment Argan Oil Lightweight Gloss Spray is available online or from your Independent Avon Representative. Click here to purchase online from avonshop.co.uk.
