☆NEW Avon LUXE COUTURE Créme Lipstick; 3 shades; review + photos☆

Source: avonshop.co.uk/
I'm simultaneously writing this review and on hold to a mobile network company. I was going to name and shame them, but the fact that I'm calling to tell them I want to leave their network should be enough - at least I'll never have to phone them again!
[2 minutes later...] Finally! I'm off hold and the the call is done. Now I can focus on my writing.

Today's review is about a product from Avon's new make up range, the LUXE collection. Their "exclusive premium" range is out in time for Christmas, and it's a perfect way to treat yourself and your loved ones without breaking the bank!

The new range includes a ladies perfume, a jewelry roll, 10 shades of lipstick, 6 eyeshadow palettes, 2 liquid eyeliner shades, 2 mascara shades, 8 shades of lip gloss, a shimmer powder compact, and 5 shades of liquid foundation.

Today I will be reviewing Avon Luxe Couture Créme Lipstick in three shades; High Style Coral, Designer Red, and Stiletto Red.

"Silk-infused formula with pearlescent colour."
- Avon.

The first thing I noticed about these lipsticks is the glamorous golden packaging. It's gorgeous! All of the Luxe range products are presented in eye-catching, golden chrome-effect packaging. It's really stylish and makes the products appear much more high-end and expensive than they really are. They really do look like designer products! They look like accessories as opposed to just make up. It's very sleek and sophisticated (see image - top right).

Now, let's discuss the lipsticks themselves. The formula is divine! Avon say these lipsticks make the lips feel more voluptuous and as soft as silk, and they certainly live up to the claim! My lips felt deeply moisturised and nourished, both during and after wear. Some moisturising lipsticks don't have very good wear, they often don't stay in place very long and require re-applying regularly, however that is not the case with these lipsticks. I had to top up the colour every few hours and after eating, but otherwise the soft hue lasted for hours! Very impressive. So far, so good!

I chose these three shades because I thought "High Style Coral" looked irresistible in the brochure, and I picked the two red shades because I'm a sucker for red lips!
All the shades have a slightly sheer finish, but the colour can be layered to make the hue more intense.

☆High Style Coral: (images - right and end of blog) As I said previously, I had high expectations after spotting this shade in the brochure photos. Many times I've found that shades don't look as good in reality as they do in a brands' advertising images, and sometimes they look like a different shade altogether, however this shade didn't disappoint. It's a soft, sun-kissed, caramel shade that gives the lips a flattering pearly sheen.

☆Designer Red: (Image - right) This bright, orange-toned red is a classic shade for the lips. It looks best paired with simple eye make up and pale, flawless skin. With the winter weather and the Christmas party season approaching, this shade is an ideal buy!

☆Stiletto Red: (Image - below-right) This red is a more delicate than "Designer Red", but it's not at all subtle! For me, this shade worked perfectly with medium-dark neutral eye shadow and a rosey blusher. Again, this shade is great for Autumn/Winter make up.

Now, let's talk dollar. This range is a little more expensive than most Avon cosmetics. Everything released from the range so far will cost you between £6 and £16 at the normal prices, and these lipsticks will set you back £9.50 each. If you snap them up for the introductory prices they'll be a little cheaper, though.

So, with Christmas just around the corner, why not treat yourself or your loved ones to a little something special from Avon's new luxurious range?

Avon True Colour 6 In 1 Eye Shadow Palette; "Chic"; review + photos

Source: http://reviews.avonshop.co.uk/

I've jotted down the notes and took the photos for this review some time last year, but I've only just got around to putting it together! As you can see from the "reflection" photo below, I still had that long thick fringe and my bridge piercing, and I was wearing a woolly jumper to keep out that awful English winter chill. Thankfully, we're well into the summer now - yes, I've been meaning to write this one up for quite some time... So, let's crack on!

I'm reviewing the Avon True Colour 6 In 1 Palette. It was released in the UK last year in the choice of 2 palettes; "Blue Moods", a selection of smokey blues and grays, and "Chic Glamour", a selection of warm browns and bronzes. I opted for "Chic Glamour" as I feel most confident in earthy neutral tones. Each palette contains a mirror, 2 double-ended sponge applicators, and 6 eye shadows.

I adore this eye shadow palette for numerous reasons. Let's start with the palette itself. Your eye shadows are beautifully presented in a sleek black palette. It's slimline and lightweight, and slips nicely into your handbag! To add to the practicality, it comes with 2 double-ended sponge applicators, and a good quality mirror - and not just one of those awful cheap plastic distorted mirrors either, it's a damn good 11 x 9 cm mirror! No trouble putting your face on with this beauty.

Let's move on to those stunning shades!

Image 1 - above: Check out the huge mirror and that beautifully bronzed collection of colours!

Image 2 - right: I've applied small samples of each to the back of my hand in the order they appear in the palette (see first image). but the image really doesn't do the colours justice. They're much more vibrant in the flesh, and all of them contain subtle shimmer (except the shade in the bottom right which is matte).

The eye shadows are really good. The shades are highly pigmented and they feel velvety smooth on your skin. You can also build them up without them feeling heavy. Any shadow that falls under your eyes during application can easily be swept away with a large make up brush, such as a kabuki or bronzer brush. They're blendable, too, and any combination of the colours will look fantastic together. You can create stunning bronze eyes, a subtle daytime look, dramatic evening make up, a classic brown smokey eye, or shimmery sophistication! Endless combinations give you endless looks to try. I love it! Personally, my favorite 3 shades in the palette are the dark chocolate shade (top left), the creamy vanilla shade (top right), and the shimmery coffee colour (bottom right).

Image 3 - right: Here I have created a stunning look suitable for day or night, using my three favorite shades from the 6 In 1 Palette (the top left shade on the lid, the top right shade on the brow bone, and the bottom left shade on the crease). I have also used Avon Glimmerstick Diamonds Eye Liner in "Smokey Diamond" on my upper lash line, Avon SuperExtend Extreme Mascara in "Black" on my top and bottom lashes, and Avon Glimmerstick Brow Definer to accentuate my brows (click the links to view the products on the Avon website).

Unfortunately, I can no longer find this product on the Avon website or in the brochure! I'm sure it will still be available elsewhere online, get searching! Click here to read about the product a see other people's comments on the Avon website.

2 True Nail Polish; shades 02, 5, 41; reviews + photos

I was doing some Christmas shopping in Bristol City Center a few weeks ago. Whenever I go shopping I buy a hell of a lot more for myself than for anyone else, and I know I'm not alone. Clothes, make up, food, drink - I'll have it all.
Anyway, one thing I was after was a gold glitter nail polish top coat. I'm pretty fussy when it comes to cosmetics; I looked in Debenhams, Harvey Nicks, Boots, Superdrug, etc etc, and couldn't find "the perfect polish". However, I did come see a shade in Superdrug from a dirt cheap brand called "2 True". I've actually never bought anything from them before (I don't really think I even knew they existed), but "Shade 5" from the Crystal Nail Polish collection caught my eye. The 2 True cosmetics were all in a 3 for £5 deal, so I bought "Shade No 02" and "Shade No 41" from the Glossy Wear collection, too.
The photo below on the left shows my nails after one, two and three coats, and at the bottom is a larger photo of my nails after three coats (no top coat).

Shade No 2: This one is from the Glossy Wear collection. In the bottle this shade looks pretty immaculate, it's a glittery opalescent pearly white colour, but on the nails it's really translucent which is disappointing. The photos to the right show my nails after one, two and three coats. Some of you will be happy with the results, but I still wasn't satisfied with it after three coats. I like really do like this iridescent shade, but it doesn't deliver enough impact for me. It would probably look great after a fourth coat, but four (or more) coats is too much hassle for me. I have only actually used this polish once (for the photo to the right), so I can't report how good the wear is, but the bottle says "up to 5 days wear" so I wouldn't expect anything too impressive!

Shade 5: This is the one that caught my eye in Superdrug. It's from the 2 True Crystal Nail Polish collection. It's such an immense colour. It's fully made up of gold, bronze and pink glitter, so as you can imagine it's quite translucent, but after a few coats it's stunning and almost completely opaque. It really is an epic party shade! It dries really quickly which is great. It's pretty hard wearing for a cheap polish, too - I was wearing three coats and two top coats, and it lasted 4 days before any chips or peeling appeared.
There are 6 shades in the Crystal collection, and I'm planning to get the red, purple and pink next, they look gorgeous.
If you're a lover of glittery polishes, you won't be disappointed.

Shade No 41: I'm a lover of red nail polish, so I thought I'd give this one a try. It's a bright glossy shimmery red, a very "girly" shade from the Glossy Wear collection. I like the colour, but it just isn't dramatic enough for me, it doesn't have enough depth. It takes three coats to get this polish opaque which isn't too bad, but it's a pain if you're in a hurry, and it's not very quick drying, either. Anyway, unlike "Shade No 02", I have given this one a chance to test out it's staying power. I didn't notice any major chipping for about three days, but it did start to peel quite quickly, which I suspect is mainly due to the amount of coats you have to apply to get it opaque - I was wearing a base coat, three coats of this polish, and two top coats (I imagine "Shade No 2" has similar wear).

2 True nail polishes are available for £1.99 from Superdrug.
